Fun day out!

February 18

Today was called ‘fun day’ and it was an opportunity for those members of the team who had sponsored children to spend a relaxing and fun day with their children.  Each child was also able to bring one of their parents along. More than half of the team have sponsored children,  three of which came in from other projects, so, including the project staff members who came along as interpreters, there were 66 of us that headed out to Queensland Amusement Park on the outskirts of Chennai!  It was another special day.  We will let the pictures do the talking although it is difficult to capture the emotions of the day – the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and it was a unique opportunity to spend time with a parent of the child.  Oh, and by the way, there were thousands of people at the amusement park – it was initially quite overwhelming.

At the end of the day we returned to the retreat center where the team members who are sponsors gave their children the gifts that they had brought from California. Even though the gifts were modest, it was another emotional time with excited children being somewhat overwhelmed by the simple things that we had brought for them.
