Abiding In God – When A Convent Is Not An Option

Beginning April 17:  Abiding In God – When A Convent Is Not An Option is a 5-week Bible study on staying connected to God when life gets in the way.  Gail Lund, Teaching Leader

“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit.”  John 15:4-5a

SPICE VISION AND VALUES

VISION

Where an organization is going; what it wishes to accomplish. An ongoing, evolving, hopeful look into the future that stirs the hearts and minds of people who know they will never see its end or limit

The VISION of Spice is to nurture women in community, encouraging spiritual growth through the study and application of God’s Word.

VALUES

The behaviors and attitudes we will choose in order to move purposefully toward our vision.

The VALUES of Spice

  1. Safety - This value implies emotional safety, which is enabled by trust, affirmation, and confidentiality, as well as theological safety, which is enabled by teaching that is grounded in biblical truth - I Timothy 6:20: … guard what has been entrusted to you..
  2. Compassion - This value focuses on the kind of care that Jesus exhibited. It implies thoughtful, loving responsiveness to our women. -1 Peter 3:8: …live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as [sisters], be compassionate and humble. & Col. 3:12: Clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
  3. Inclusiveness - This value describes a commitment to reach out, enfold, and accept all women. - Acts 10:34: God does not show favoritism…
  4. Authenticity - This value suggests vulnerability and humility, free of the pretense that we are perfect and blameless. It permits intimacy and allows for accountability. - I John 1:8-10: If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us… & James 5:16: Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed…
