A little about me…
I grew up in Oklahoma and am still a southern girl at heart in many ways. Sweet tea, an appreciation for a slower pace of life, and old-fashioned hospitality are three things I hope I never grow out of! I moved to Chicago in 2001 and then to the Bay Area after getting married to Ledio in 2003. Both moves broadened my horizons and brought much blessing to my life.
One of those blessings was discovering God’s body in both the East and South Bays. Ledio and I are thankful to have been a part of two incredible churches, First Covenant of Oakland and Grace Community Covenant of Palo Alto. We enjoyed being involved in both communities in a variety of ministries and fellowship opportunities. I learned a great deal from my work with these churches in the areas of missions, newcomer follow-up, and family ministries.
My education includes a B.S. in Biblical Studies. I am currently just over a year away from finishing my M.A. in Family Life Education through Fuller Seminary. My long-term vision is to start an organization that will train child-care workers internationally.
I am sure that when I look back on 2008, I will have much to celebrate and thank God for. However, I am confident that one experience in particular will stick out as extremely significant to my life’s work and purpose. I am referring to my trip to China in January. I just returned from an amazing time of ministry, working with disabled and abandoned children in Hunan. They poured out love upon our team and were the vessels of extravagant grace upon our lives! We saw anew how God has a way of choosing what the world rejects to reveal His purity and beauty to those who will see Him. We experienced His goodness poured out upon us as we hugged, played, washed, and gave attention to the precious children in the orphanage. It was truly a beautiful time together.
I am excited to be joining the staff team at Hillside and eager to get to know the church family in this special place. Thank you for welcoming me into your community. I look forward to our journey together.
