Canto Nuevo Covenant Church

Having 70 people fill his garage on Sunday mornings, Willy Franco knew he needed to find space where their fledgling little group could meet. Through a sequence of events and God’s direction, Willy was led to call Pastor Jeff Reed at Hillside. Hillside had been looking for an opportunity to break out into the largely Hispanic Monument Corridor area. It wasn’t long before the new church was meeting in Hillside’s facility, and soon after Hillside formerly adopted Canto Nuevo as an official church plant of thePacific Southwest Conference of the Covenant Church. Join us during one of Canto Nuevo’s services on Sundays at 3:00 pm or contact Pastor Willy for more information at jesusesr@aol.com.

True Vine Ministries

In the wake of the devastating Rodney King riots in Los Angeles, former Hillside pastor Doug Stevens wanted to do something tangible as an act of reconciliation. He called then Senior Pastor Newton Carey and asked if he could come to West Oakland with some Hillsiders to meet together, discuss, and pray as a response to the disaster in the south. Out of this encounter, a long relationship was born. True Vine is a now led by Pastor Zachary Carey. The vision of True Vine is to proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord and savior to all; to preach and teach the word of God with clarity and understanding; to help promote the Kingdom of God by building strong family infrastructure; to provide vocational office and skill training that will produce productive citizens, thereby transforming lives that will ultimately impact the world. Hillside partners with True Vine in a number of ways. To find out more about True Vine’s ministries visit their website at: www.truevine-ministries.com.

  • Mark your calendar for the True Vine Women’s Ministry Conference at Hillside on Saturday, September 6 th, Powerful Beyond Measure. To get more involved in Hillside’s partnership with True Vine contact Judith at judith@hillsidecovenant.org or 934-1110 ext. 16.
