What is Podcasting?

With iTunes, you can now browse and subscribe to podcasts from within the iTunes Music Store. Podcasts are radio shows or other audio programs that are often episodic and are downloadable over the Internet. From news and information to music and commentary, thousands of new podcasts are available everyday, from around the world, on every subject you can imagine.
 
And now, with built-in support for podcasting in iTunes, listening and managing podcasts has never been easier. You can find and subscribe to your favorite podcasts in the Podcast Directory on the iTunes Music Store, and automatically download them to your computer. You can listen to a podcast from your computer or transfer it to your iPod and listen while you are on the go.

How to subscribe to the Hillside Covenant Sermon Podcast in iTunes:

Here are directions on how to subscribe to the podcast in Apple's iTunes.

  1. Open iTunes
  2. Select > Advanced > Subscribe to Podcast
  3. Enter :http://www.hillsidecovenant.org/podcasts/HillsideSermons.rss

You are now subscribed to the podcast. 

I don't have an iPod, can I use a different Mp3 player?

Yes! Here's how!

  • Follow the above directions to install iTunes and subscribe to the Podcast
  • Once the current podcast sermon is downloaded, Click on the new Downloaded Podcast.
  • Select File > Show Song File
  • This opens a folder with the downloaded MP3 ready to be copied to your MP3 player*

What is RSS?

RSS  provide news updates from a website in a simple form for your computer or mobile device. You read these files in a program called an aggregator, which collects news from various websites and provides it to you in a simple form. But what aggregator to use? Here are some choices:

 

  • Mac OS X: NetNewsWire
    This elegant Mac-like aggregator is easy to use and powerful.
  • Windows: SharpReader
    Simple, but gets the job done.
  • Windows: RSS Popper
    aggregator add-in for Outlook
