15 Different Financial Giving Opportunities (some that cost you nothing)
Offering Plate - Hillside provides an opportunity in its weekly worship services to honor God with financial gifts to the church. Weekly offering envelopes are available upon request. Please contact the church office.
Debit or Credit Card - You may use the following link to make a donation to Hillside using a debit card or credit card. Be advised that Hillside pays a 2.2% fee to process card payments.

Recurring Gift Option - Hillside is pleased to offer you the option of automating your monthly gift to the church through interbank transfers. To authorize a monthly withdraw from your designated bank account, please fill out the form (pdf) and return it to the office.
Online Banking - Set up automatic payments or manually initiate payments through your bank’s online bill pay service. Your bank will mail your donation to the church.
eWaste4good.com – Don’t throw away old electronics. Have them picked up for free or drop them off at the church and Ewaste4Good will send a small donation to Hillside.
Donate a vehicle, boat or RV – Contact Car Donation Services at 888-686-4483 and allow them to dispose of unwanted vehicle, boat or RV. The service is free, Hillside will receive a percentage of any remaining value and you will receive a tax deduction for the fair market value of your donation.
Donate Stocks – Rather then sell stocks and pay capital gains taxes before donating to the church, donate the stock. You will receive a tax deduction for the full fair market value of the stock and you will avoid the capital gains tax. Hillside’s tax exemption allows it to sell the stock without paying the tax either.
IRA distribution – If you are over 71 years of age and subject to a required minimum distribution for an Individual Retirement Account, under current tax law you may make that distribution to a church or non-profit and reduce your taxable income. For more information contact your tax or financial advisor.
Donate Real Estate – Just like stocks, a home or property that has risen in value over the years will be subject to capital gains tax. By donating real estate before selling it, the donor can avoid the tax and effectively give to the church what would otherwise be paid as taxes.
Escrip.com – Safeway and other retail stores will make charitable donations based on a small percentage of your credit card purchases at their stores. You need to register your credit card at escrip.com and designate the charity of your choice. Everything else is automatic after that and there is no cost to you.
Amazon purchases – Donate 0.5% of the price of your eligible AmazonSmile purchases to Hillside whenever you shop on AmazonSmile. AmazonSmile is the same Amazon you know. Same products, same prices, same service. https://smile.amazon.com/ch/94-1564826
Corporate gift programs – Several large corporations have matching gift programs that encourage employees to donate to non-profit organizations. Hillside has received donations from Chevron, Wells Fargo and AT&T. Check with your employer to see if there is a charitable giving program.
Wills and Bequests – As you make arrangements now for the distribution of your estate after your death, you may wish to consider donating a portion of your estate to the church. Covenant Trust Company is an arm of the Evangelical Covenant Church that prepares wills and provides estate planning and trust management services. They can answer questions and assist you this process. Contact CovenantTrust.com
Life Insurance – By designating the church as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy, the church will receive the coverage amount upon the death of the insured. Because the church is the named beneficiary, premium payments are effectively a donation and are likely to be tax deductible. See your tax advisor.
