Day 8 - 2026

Day 8

Another day and another church in la Red del Camino network. The common thread of these churches is they go into a community, seek out the needs, see challenges not obstacles. This medium size church is truly inspirational. They are in a very rough neighborhood that has been embraced by this church and indeed the neighborhood has embraced this church in return. In the current case, they needed more space and because of the long relationship they had built with their neighbors they were able to get the property next door well below market price. And because of their deep faith they are able to find the resources to make it happen, even though they did not have the funds when the opportunity presented itself.

Today pretty much the whole leadership team came in on what should have been their day off for a national holiday. We shared lunch and fellowship and heard about an endless list of projects and ministries this church does.

Another teleferico ride to see a different part of the city. Subway ride back to the house. We were blessed by another national holiday that meant none of the chaotic traffic that is so normal for this city.

And a final group dinner with Ernesto and Altagracia that was bittersweet. Wonderful time together but sad to be leaving in the morning.
