Today was a fabulous day. We picked up the kids from Grow, along with Faa and Ning, and headed out to a combination zoo and park. The park consisted of a cool tram tour of Thailand’s main agriculture. We saw gorgeous rows and rows of tea bushes, vines growing melon, and flower gardens. We saw giraffes, miniature horses, zebras and cool Thai cows along the way.
Afterwards, we went to see a huge, ornate white Buddhist temple that’s a famous historical site. It was almost closing time when we arrived, so we did a quick blitz through. One of the sites along the way was a well with crystal clear water and coins at the bottom (like so many fountains we see at home). One of the team members thought it would be fun to throw in a small coin to see if he could land it onto one of the well’s tiers inside the water. The kids quickly and forcefully stopped him before pitching the coin in because at a temple, if you throw in a coin, it’s an act of worshipping Buddha, which our team member did not intend to do. We loved that the GROW kids cared so much that they would stop him.
The bus ride back to GROW took about an hour and a half and the kids sang worship songs almost the entire time. They exemplified Psalm 98:4 which says, Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises.
The kids are absolute love sponges. They drink in the attention we give them. It’s so nice to be able to support the efforts of Faa, Ning, and the GROW team in their endeavors of bringing the love of Jesus, safety and stability to this group of beautiful children.
We ended the day with dinner at GROW then wearily headed back to the hotel for some much needed rest.
